INSTRUCTIONS

Use different sources, such as medical case study books from a library or reported case studies on the internet, to find three cases about any of the musculoskeletal disorders discussed in this Module. Each case must discuss a different disorder.
Write a paragraph that summarizes each case. What symptoms did the patient have? What did the medical professional recommend as a form of treatment? How was the illness diagnosed?
Write a list of any medical terms within the case study and use a medical dictionary to determine their meaning.
Practice your word-building skills by determining the word root, combining form, prefix, and suffix for each term identified in step 3. Identify the meaning of each word part.
Once you’re finished, upload your paragraph, list of medical terms, and word-building skills to your teacher for grading.

Look up a brand-name drug and list its generic name, what it treats, any side effects, and any other medications it interacts with. This will help you become more familiar with drug warnings and generic naming conventions.

Look up one of the 11 body systems in Lesson 1 and list five terms associated with that system. How does the etymology of these five terms relate to the etymology of the body system? Do they relate at all?
Muscular System.
1. Osteitis- Inflammation of the bone,

3. Arthritis- Inflammation of the joint,
4. Arthroplasty – Surgical procedure to restore joint function.

When you find your case study, you will need to complete the following:
Identify or underline all medical terms related to the cardiopulmonary system.
Define these medical terms (identified in step 1) and define their word parts.
Explain what diagnostic test you would recommend other than what is listed in the case study background report.
Identify and describe at least one other treatment method you would add to the current recommendation listed in the case study. Note: If a treatment plan is not provided, you will need to create one using what was learned in this Module.
